Cancer Association of Louisiana is proud to announce it’s participation in West Jefferson Medical Cancer Center’s trimonthly Wellthy Farmers Market. The market was both a great networking and supplemental opportunity for patients, health care workers, and the public
As always, farmers markets are great ways to provide resources to the community with goods from wellness tips to healthy nutritious foods. In fact, partaking in a balanced healthy diet is a great preventative method for retaining health and limiting illness. Thanks to a partnership with Baptist Community Ministries, CALA was able to support patients undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis with $50 food vouchers towards the nutritious options available at the market. There were local vendors, such as Buttery Spell and TT’s Pepper Jellies LLC, providing a wonderful assortment of items to sell.
CALA Would also like to thank Louisiana State University AgCenter for partnership in education and enlightenment with a program we like to call “Small Changes, Healthy Habits”. This partnership includes offering a virtual series of both nutrition and physical health knowledge to make modest long term changes. Those who cannot participate were given the chance to sign up for our email list to receive healthy eating tips and tricks.
